If you would like to try something more challenging, you might be interested to learn bodysurfing. In this surfing form, you do not need a surfboard or a bodyboard to allow you to ride a wave. You just need flippers or swim fins, along with a surfing wetsuit. You can also use a handboard if you want to. It will allow you to plane yourself higher out of the water and increase your speed. To start bodysurfing, put on your fins then wade out towards swimming depth.

Keep wading backwards while watching for any oncoming waves. Then swim to the breaker line with your head up so you can watch out for any oncoming riders. So you can get on the wave, choose a direction, paddle hard, put your arms down, then roll onto your back. Once you have already gained enough experience, you can attempt manoeuvres like spinners, take-offs, and barrel rolls.
